The 8th Annual Lake of the Prairies Ice Fishing Derby was held on February 25, 2017, with a top prize of $12,500 to the ice-fisher who caught the largest fish. This year’s top prize went to McKenna Geres with a 82cm pike caught a little over 1-1/2 hours into the event.

Rounding out the top five were: 2nd Place ($5,000) – Brad Altwasser, with a 63.5 cm pike; 3rd Place ($2,000) – Brade Kolybaba, with a 63 cm pike; 4th Place ($1,000) – Trevor Urban, with a 58 cm pike; and 5th Place ($500 Fishing Package) – Justin Criddle, with a 57.5 cm pike.
